Jogini Falls – The Hidden Gem of Manali



Serene and Tranquil, Jogini Falls is a stunning natural wonder where water flows from an elevated height through a cluster of small hills.Surrounded by emerald greeneries and mountainous backdrop,

the falls are ideal for spending a couple of hours away from the hustle and bustle of crowded city life. It is located at a distance of 5 km from Manali in the beautiful Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.

The sparkling water of this falls joins the River Beas at the valley below forming beautiful scenery. The falls are supposed to be the abode for the residing local goddess by the inhabitants of the Vashist village. 

The Legend: According to the legend, the falls used to be the bathing place of the unwed daughters of Lord Indra. So, following the tradition the local inhabitants bring their daughters for their first tonsure to this falls on the first of Baisakh annually.     

Things to Do:

Trekking: A gentle trek along the striking Beas River will take you to the tiny Bhang village; from there a slow climb along the rivulet will lead you to the aged old Vashist village. Vashist village is renowned for its natural springs which possessed great medicinal values with curative properties. If you wish then take a quick dip in the springs for rejuvenation and then head on to the wonderful Jogini Falls for a holiday escapade. The trek from Manali to this place is about 5 km of short trek and is filled with scenic vistas all over which makes your trek simpler and easier. 

Relish an excellent time with your family or loved ones while at the falls. Bring some packed lunch to eat while viewing some spectacular views of the snow flurried mountains all around. Take a dip in the mesmerizing water of the falls or just stroll in and around its vicinity where the melodious sound of nature with the rhythmical flow of the trees will create a mesmerizing nature tone to make you hassle free. Or you can just warm yourself after dipping yourself in the water to spend some serene time amidst nature.

Jogini Devi Temple: A small yet captivating stone temple dedicated to Jogini Devi is an added attraction of this place. Meals are distributed to the devotees on stone plates as per their rituals on particular occasion. The temple is crowded most of the time with devotees and the visitors.
Best time to Visit: The best time to visit the falls is from April to November when the climate remains pleasant and agreeable.

How to Reach:

By Road: Manali is well connected by road to Delhi (570 km), Chandigarh (320 km), Ambala (370 km), Shimla (260 km) and Pathankot. You can get on a bus or rent a taxi from these places to reach Manali.
