Historical Feet of Rabdentse Ruins

Through this article today we are going to talk about heritage site of Gangtok where its serenity had witnessed ravages of time and went through the futile course of destruction which led to the origin of Rabdentse Ruins.

As per its glorious history Rabdentse was once a surreal beauty of the state but with an invasion of Nepalese army all the treasure of the site was turned into big disgrace. One must understand Rabdentse was the second capital of an erstwhile empire of Sikkim and they flourished their reign from 1670 to 1814. 

Located within the lines of the renowned Pemayangste Monastery here you will see chronological ruins and chortens which are worth noticing and describes the volume of their past and their merry time activities.

From here one can witness an ecstasy of resonant Mount Kanchenjunga which in turn adds delight and consequently compliments the majestic splendour of the site beside that what’s more prominent is after understanding an importance of the place the government have announced this site to be of national importance and still an archaeologists are doing research to dig out more simplified character and nature of this place.

To reach an estuary of Rabdentse ruins one would require trekking the distance of 2 km which would connect the distance of Pelling and extends till Geyzing.  While taking on road one can enjoy the beautiful forest of the surrounding that spreads an essence of nature all over the side.

Best Time to Visit
 Although you can trek the distance of the site throughout the year but an ideal time for you would be during the season of summer when gentle rays of sun hits the ground and caresses the site with colossal illustration. Walk here between the duration of March till June.  

How to Visit
Nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri which is at a distance of 120 km and it will take approximately 2 and half hour to reach Gangtok and once you land here hire cab o reach Pemayangste Monastery and from here one can look to trek a distance of 2 km.

Nearest airport is Bagdogra which is located at a distance of 124 km and it will take approximately 2 and half hour to reach Gangtok.

Nearest nodal point for both New Jalpaiguri and Bagdogra is Siliguri which is at a distance of about 5 to 10 km and from here one can look to hire cab to reach Gangtok but we would rather suggest you to get in shared sumo which would not cost you much.
