Kinnaur Valley, the Best Place to Explore the Untouched Beauty of the Himalayan Region



Kinnaur valley is situated in the northeastern part of Himachal Pradesh, at a distance of about 235 km from the capital city
, Shimla. It is one of the most secluded parts in Himachal Pradesh, which every adventure or nature lover should certainly visit, as the place has not yet been taken over by the large scale of commercialization. 


The valley is one of the 12 districts of Himachal and is popular known for its untouched raw natural beauty, dotted with scenic small hamlets, picturesque landscapes and the thrilling adventurous roads. The place is also very much known among the tourist for its adventurous trekking routes. It is globally renowned for its orchards of apples, peaches, apricots and other dry fruits. The place is also known for its high quality handlooms including kinnaur caps, mufflers and shawls. 

Attractions
The valley has plenty of attractions for the tourists among which, some have been listed below.

Sangla Valley
The valley has been named after its main village ‘Sangla’ and it is considered as one of the most scenic valleys in India. As the Baspa River meanders through this valley, it is also known as the Baspa Sangal valley among the locals. Alike Kinnaur, Sangla valley also represents the raw untouched beauty of nature. Dotted with dense forests slopes and very few tourists visiting the place, it is certainly a place to be visited by the ones looking for retreat.

Kamru Village and Fort
Kamru village is located at a distance of about 2 to 3 km from Sangla valley. The village is abounded by apple and apricot orchards and is dotted with thick cluster of houses. The village also holds a renowned Kamru Fort, which is said to be more than 1000 years old and regarded as one of the most primitive forts in the region of Himachal.

Batseri village
The Basteri Village is placed on the banks of Baspa River in Sangla valley and is known for its Badari Narayan Temple, which comprises of beautiful architectural style influenced by Tibetan-Buddhist culture. 

Best Time to Visit
The most appropriate time to visit this district in Himachal Pradesh is between the months of April to October.

Accommodation
As the Kinnaur valley is one of the most secluded tourist destinations in the northern part of India, the region does not facilitate luxury class hotels and resorts. However the hotels found in this region are dived into two classes namely A Class and B Class. The A Class hotels provide the best quality of accommodation that you can find in this region whereas the B Class hotels provide the moderate quality of accommodation. 

Apart from these, tourists can opt to stay in the home stays provided by the local inhabitants of this region. The home stays are a quite good option as they will allow you to closely observe the culture and lifestyle of the people living in this region. The inhabitants of this region are very much friendly and hospitable towards the visitors. So you will not face much of a problem while staying in their homes.  

How to Reach
The best way to get to Kinnaur valley is by travelling by foot. The trip commences from Shimla and ends up in Manali, in about 12 days or Leh Ladakh, in about 16 days. 

It is the most recommended way to explore the scenic beauty of this region as it will take you to some of the most breath-taking villages that are dotted with several striking temples and monasteries along with the captivating view of the snow covered mountains.  

By Road: Kinnaur valley is linked with almost all parts of the country through rough roads. Still the most convenient way to get to this place through road is from Shimla, which is located at a distance of about 235 km. 

By Train: There is no railway link in Kinnaur valley and the nearest rail head to this place is Shimla, which is linked with the World Heritage Toy Train from Kalka. Kalka is well connected linked with Delhi and other major stations in the country.   

By Air: The nearest airport to this valley is Shimla Airport, which conducts regular flights from Delhi.
