Arjuna Gufa, A Place to Be Visited In Manali

hill station of Himachal and Arjuna Gufa is one of them. The cave is situated on the left bank of Beas River, at a distance of just 5 km from the main town of Manali. Prini, a pristine hilly village of Manali is also located at a close distance from the Arjuna Gufa.

The Arjuna Gufa is one of the most visited sites in Manali. The cave is linked with the legend of Mahabharata, as it is believed that Arjun, one of Pandava brothers, had meditated at this place to acquire ‘Pashupati Astra’ from Indra, the kings of Devas. The name of the cave is associated with the legend of this place. 

The excursion to this place is quite an enjoyable one with the breath-taking views of the mountains along the route. Apart from the legend associated with it, the cave is also very much alluring to the visitors due to the natural beauty of the place. It takes a half day trek to Arjuna Gufa.

The route to the Arjuna Gufa is filled with the mesmerizing views of snow covered mountains and is also line with alpine forests.  As you reach the cave, you will be filled with the peaceful feeling of the place. The only sound that you can hear at this place is the gushing of Beas River at a close distance and the melodious chirping of some native birds. You can enjoy a quite stroll at this place and also seat back and relax amidst the tranquil surroundings. It is also a perfect place for capturing some scenic photos. A trip to the ARjuna Gufa can be combined with other attractions dotted along the region of Manali.

How to Reach

By Road: The cave can be easily accessed through road by regular bus services from the main bus stand in Manali, located at a distance of about 1 km. One can also hire a taxi to this place from the main town of Manali. Manali is well connected through road from various major cities within the state or from other places in India like Shimla, Delhi, Leh, Kullu etc. 

By Air: The nearest airport to Arjuna Gufa is Bhuntar, located at a distance of about 50 km from Manali. The airport conducts daily flights from Delhi and Chandigarh.

By Train: Jogindernagar, which is 3 to 4 hrs drive from Manali, is the nearest railway head to this cave. The station is well linked with several major cities in India.
