Van Vihar National Park, Manali



Positioned on the Mall Road of Manali, the Van Vihar National Park is one of the most splendid national parks of Manali. It is often visited by numerous tourists and the local people.

The park houses numerous deodar trees that provide shadiness and serenity to the bounded area. The park is a heaven for the nature freaks. One can spend some solo time in the park away from hustle and bustle of the busy world. It is a big park with great services indeed. Compared to other parks, it sustains more greenery, thus bestowing a lush green surrounding.
 
The Van Vihar National Park is one of those spectacular places where one one would love to go. The place is a must visit. It is an old national park, which was unfolded or recognized as a national park in due course of time. Expanding in an arena of about 4.5kms, the park was initiated as a small zoo which later established into a national park that we see it today. 

Taking care of the visitors, the park offers sitting arrangements as well. Wooden and tangible benches made of concrete are furnished by the park for the tired enthusiasts. It is a popular picnic spot as well where one can spend some time with their family. The place is ideal for the love birds where they can spend some moments of blitheness. There is a small pond nearby the place where the visitors can take pleasure of the boat rides.

If one wants to know more about flora and fauna and the bountiful spirit of nature, the Van Vihar National Park is the supreme one. Take a step and know more about Mother Nature. Since the place is located opposite to the market, one can easily access the park and get lost in alluring thoughts.  Bordered by Rive Beas, the park is a maintained by the government of Himachal Pradesh with the aim of conserving endangered and vulnerable species. Surprisingly, Van Vihar National Park is a park devoid of animals.  One can, however, find numerous birds and little creatures that exist there. A fair number of angora rabbits are also found. In practice, they’ve been escorted in the park to make money for those people who want to click some photographs with them.

Flora and Fauna
The Van Vihar National Park lay under the shade of the sky-scraping deodar trees. Their sheer presence provides a charismatic view to its viewers. The animals that are showcased in the park are generally found or brought from some other place. Thus, we can see how the park authorities take great care of the animals and provide an environment similar to their habitats. 

Luckily, one can also spot Monal, the national bird of Himachal Pradesh. The locals consider it fortunate to have a mere sight of the bird. The bird is found generally in the Himalayan region.

The Van Vihar National park is a great place for hangout and is often visited by tourists from all around the world. The local people stop over for a picnic as well.

The dense green surroundings of the place make it ideal for photography . One can capture spectacular pictures amidst the rich environment. 

How can one forget the boat ride? The boat ride is enjoyed by children and people of all ages.

How to Reach
One can easily reach Manali via roadways, airways and even railways.

By road: Taxis and buses, in fact private and public buses also provide you a nice ride to Manali.

By air: Located at a distance of about 50km from Manali lies its nearest airport Bhuntar. Domestic flights at a regular pace are available from here.
